Your Will Be Done

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is

possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not

mine.”         Matthew 26:39 NIV

Submit vs Submission

Do not be stiff-necked, as your ancestors were; submit to the Lord. Come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the Lord your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you.                    2 Chronicles 30:8 NIV

You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”     Genesis 41:40 NIV

Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also asa matter of conscience.   Romans 13:5 NIV

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,                                                                                                                                                                                         1 Peter 2:13 NIV

A Willingness to Admit your Emotion

Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39  Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,                                        Matthew 26:38-39 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.     Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

It Ok to Ask for a Different Way.

“My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”                                            Matthew 26:42 NIV

So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.                                                              Matthew 26:44 NIV

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.   2 Corinthians 12:7-9 NIV

To Enter Submission you must first Abide

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  6  If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  7  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.  8  This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.     John 15:5-8 NIV
